The Boys’ and Girls’ Varsity Golf team has had a successful season. The team is very different from many others at Central because the team is made up of only students from 277 and 280, that is, seniors and freshmen, making the team’s dynamic very different than others at Central.
The team also has a new head coach, Mrs. Snyder. She expresses that she is “excited for the amount of freshman. We have about five who have lots of potential. They have lots of energy and are really excited about the sport. The atmosphere of team this year is really friendly and supportive.” The positive energy doesn’t just come from the coach, but also the players, who help one another at practice and in matches. “The team is so accepting and the energy is so positive,” says player Molly Flanagan (277).
The positive energy has paid off, with the team ending their season in the Public League with a record of 8 and 4, coming second in the Public League behind Masterman. With this success in toe, the team is excited for Districts. Captain Spencer Shore (277) comments, “I am excited to teach our new freshmen and give them a chance to compete at Districts.” This season for the golf team was one of many opportunities for the players to shine and to learn from both new and the old players. This excitement will help carry the team to Districts and propel them further as a team as they continue to develop their skills in the sport.
