While winter brings cold weather and festive holidays, it also means the beginning of swim season. Central’s Varsity Swim Team is back and ready to battle it out in the pool against key rivals including Masterman and Franklin Towne Charter. After ending a successful season in second place for the overall team in the Public League, the 2017-18 swim team is determined to clinch the first place spot.
When it comes to team dynamics, this team is working to become stronger and more united, even with the graduation of a few key 276 swimmers. Sophie Haskell (277) provides insight on what she hopes to bring to the pool this season. “I’m really excited for what this swim season has to offer and what I have to offer everyone on the team. We’re an extremely strong team even though we lost a couple strong swimmers last year. I hope as a senior I can contribute to leading the team closer to winning the chip, but in the end it is a whole team effort and you just have to trust the process!” The positive attitude of each of the members is evident as their season transitions into full swing with their first meet being on December 21st against Fels and SLA Beeber.
The upcoming season seems bright for this mix of veteran and novice swimmers. Lola Bradbury (277), who has been swimming with Central for two seasons, voices her overall excitement for the team as they enter the bulk of their season. “I’m really looking forward to swim with everyone and see what we all have to bring. As a senior I hope to help lead the team and fight to bring back the Public League Championship title to Central!” The talent, energy, and determination is fierce both in and out of the water as the team strives to continue in Central’s stellar athletic record.
